SANT'AGATA BOLOGNESE, Italy — Automobili Lamborghini appears poised to release one last extreme edition of its entry-level model at the 2010 Geneva Auto Show in early March. Although unofficial renderings of the car have been leaked on various Web sites, it's still not clear whether the upcoming Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 will be christened a Super Veloce or a Superleggera.
The online rumor mill has been active this week, with speculation centered on the car's exact specs and badging. The consensus appears to be that output will be bumped to 570 horsepower and, like the Murciélago LP670-4 Super Veloce that was unveiled at last year's Geneva show, the Gallardo LP570-4 will shed a bit of weight, thanks in part to more extensive use of carbon-fiber panels.
Also, unlike the most recently launched Gallardo, the LP550-2 Valentino Balboni, the new LP570-4 will feature all-wheel drive. The early betting is that 0-60-mph acceleration should be accomplished in less than 3.5 seconds.
Stay tuned for more details as we get closer to this year's Geneva show.
